“It all started decades ago,” Dr Snehasish Dutta begins, his voice carrying the weight of experience. “My progress has been like a concurrent stream of merging of two rivers. One was as a business leader—the journey started way back in 1998 as a young graduate in physics and management, selected as a trainee with L&T-ECC.”

He paints a vivid picture of his early days: “I come from a small city of Rourkela (Odisha) where I was raised, father being in Central Government Jobs. I was always eager to see growing to bigger roles and larger companies that I would have read and aspired for. Maybe I was one of the few lucky who could sail through the L&T entire process with a basic stipend of ₹4500/- monthly. I joined in Kolkata and moved to Bihar at tough locations. Since I came with an MBA in Sales and Marketing, I wanted to explore more. Somehow, engines and machines lured me, and I kept on having some challenging roles and moved into various companies thereafter, including Kirloskar Engines, Piaggio Vehicles, Tata Motors, BYD, Adani and then at Reliance.”

His journey, marked by “tough locations” and a relentless pursuit of growth, showcases his determination and adaptability. “Having taken more than 14 transfers and 8 elevations, it has been a fruitful journey from trainee to CEO at Reliance Airports last 27 years, also completing my PhD in Business Studies in between,” he adds, highlighting his remarkable career trajectory.
