When it comes to health, nothing is trivial. We must be ever-attentive to our own health. Because when you’re unwell, you know the truth in the phrase ‘health is wealth!’ Your bodily―physical as well as mental―health is directly connected to your gut health. Yet worldover, the majority of the population doesn’t give much-needed attention to it―their gut health. In fact, in many cases, where issues like frequent stomachaches, acidity, burning sensations, burps, and gases are routinely neglected, the chances of an unhealthy person increase. Because this negligence is leading to many severe other health issues. It is high time to erase this ignorance with the light of knowledge and awareness.

Gut Health Year 2026

Well-renowned Senior Homoeopathic Consultant, Stress Management Counselor, Modern Applied Psychologist, Mindfulness Master Practitioner, Spiritual Life Coach, International Speaker, Sound Healing Practitioner, Founder of Chaitanya Homeopathic Clinic, Baner, Pune, Honorary Hom. Consultant Ramkrishna Math OPD, and Social Initiatives Leader for PAN India, Dr Deepa Patil BHMS DMAP (Gold Medalist), reminds us that as the year 2025 comes to an end, let’s carry forward the good memories and plan ahead for 2026!

She also shares that Chaitanya Homeopathic Clinic is celebrating the upcoming year as Gut Healthcare Year. We can, too.

Dr Deepa Patil  adds, “First things first! An insight, a plan, and a blueprint are necessary for any project- big or small.”

“Insights Success Media has provided this platform for me to pen down my thoughts regarding the same. Hence, I express my gratitude to Insights Success Media.”

The article has been divided into two parts only.

Part One mentions ‘Current Gut Health Scenario. The Global v/s National Statistics.’

The Numbers are beyond the acceptable range, though. However, every gray cloud has a silver lining. Similarly, the solutions are readily available in the modern age!

Part Two is about practical solutions that may or may not be applicable to a few. “It is my duty to present decades of experience to the reader. I am glad to help many individuals with a rectified diet alone: Long after the Homoeopathic Treatment was concluded!”

Part One: Are You One Among These?

An Unexamined life is not worth living.” – Socrates, Greek Philosopher.

Dr Deepa Patil informs, “When we look at the World Population with reference to Gut Health alone – A staggering 40% of Global citizens have Functional Gastro-intestinal Disorders (FGID).”

The Good News is that only 10% of the population of Countries, namely Turkey and India, are affected. It indicates that mainly genetics, diet, and environment play a major role in Good Gut Health.

FGIDs are mostly described as only functional/ reversible disorders where structural changes have not yet set in. Hence, the timely treatment yields higher results.

‘Gases, Burps, Acidity’ are often ignored. Mostly, one doesn’t necessarily seek medical help for such trivial complaints. Years pass by. The condition may end up in Complications like peptic ulcers. A constant tired feeling/ chronic fatigue can be a sign of the onset of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD), with no history of significant alcohol consumption. NAFLD is prevalent in Indian adults, raising concerns. Almost one-third of the population is struggling with/without being aware of their condition.

Hypertension, Type 2 Diabetes, and Obesity (around the waist) trigger changes in the liver.

The Good News? Change in diet/lifestyle, clubbed with the right medicines, will help you in making your gut healthy for your life.

Part Two: Make Your Food Your Magical Medicine

Let food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food.” – Hippocrates, Father of Medicine.

Dr Deepa Patil  again reminds us that food is one of the major factors that keep the entire body functioning. However, much awareness regarding food is still required. If food is to be treated as medicine, it is obvious that it has to be in a defined dosage at a stipulated time of the day/ night.

This ‘Medicine’ derived from Mindful Doses of Food consumed is sufficient to keep an individual healthy. Certain Tribal Communities across the Globe have a strict food discipline followed religiously even today. Needless to say, in the Modern Scenario, the urban population has sacrificed two important things:  First, sleep, and second, food. Both lead to poor gut health.

“Interestingly, the gut is not only the digestive system but also a second brain with its special ‘enteric nervous system.’ When and how you eat matters more than what you eat,” emphasizes Dr Deepa Patil.

The Simple Secrets for a Healthy Gut

Here she gives a few easy pointers

#1. Sip 150 ml of water and then eat your meals.

#2. A hearty breakfast is mandatory.

#3. Early dinner (as early as 6 pm) helps digestion better.

#4. Mindful fasting every two weeks is a natural body detox.

#5. Standard ‘Thali’ with moderate portions of freshly prepared food (served in style) should be consumed at least once a week.

#6. For those aged 35 and above- binging can be full of nutrition: Sip 200 ml of water. Eat a protein bar/fistful of roasted Chana/peanuts. If you’re still hungry, have dry fruits like dates and figs.

#7. Unwind with a foot-massage/sound bath around bedtime.
