Background

Bolna, an India-focused voice startup, raised $6.3 million in a seed funding round led by General Catalyst, as demand for voice-based technology keeps growing across the country. The round also saw participation from Y Combinator, Blume Ventures, Orange Collective, Pioneer Fund, Transpose Capital, Eight Capital and several angel investors.

The startup builds a voice platform that helps businesses create and manage voice agents for tasks like customer support, sales, hiring, and training. Voice remains an important communication tool in India, making these solutions more appealing to companies and startups that want to work more efficiently.

Bolna’s journey has faced many challenges. Y Combinator rejected the company five times, asking if Indian businesses would pay for voice AI tools. The founders later proved demand by showing steady monthly revenue of over $25,000. This helped them get into Y Combinator’s fall 2025 batch. Since then, Bolna raised the price of its pilot programs from $100 to $500.

The platform solves India-specific problems like background noise, mixed-language conversations, and caller verification. Users can build voice agents by just describing what they need, without technical skills. About 75% of Bolna’s revenue comes from self-serve customers.

Bolna works with a wide range of clients, including car resale platform Spinny, house-help startup Snabbit, beverage companies and dating apps. Most customers are small and mid-sized businesses, though the company has also signed two large enterprises and is running pilots with four more.

Currently, Bolna handles more than 200,000 calls a day and is nearing $700,000 in annual recurring revenue. While most calls are in English and Hindi, usage in regional languages is rising steadily.
