Background
Shares of Infosys rose 3% on Tuesday, February 17, after the company announced a strategic collaboration with U.S.-based AI firm Anthropic to deliver advanced enterprise artificial intelligence solutions.
The two companies will start by focusing on the telecommunications sector. They will create a dedicated Anthropic Center of Excellence to design and build AI agents for specific industry needs. Later, they will expand the partnership into financial services, manufacturing, and software development.
At the core of the alliance is the integration of Anthropic’s Claude models, including Claude Code, with Infosys’ Topaz AI platform. The combined technology stack helps businesses automate complex workflows, speed up software development and use AI while keeping strong governance and compliance.
A major focus of the partnership will be agentic AI. These systems can independently perform multi-step tasks such as claims processing, code generation and testing, and compliance management. By using tools like the Claude Agent SDK to build AI agents that manage long and complex processes instead of just single prompts.
The collaboration also seeks to help enterprises upgrade legacy systems. By combining Topaz with Claude models, Infosys plans to support faster migration and reduce the cost of modernising older infrastructure.
Infosys Chief Executive Officer Salil Parekh said the partnership marks a key step in advancing enterprise AI adoption. He said the collaboration would help companies become more intelligent, resilient, and responsible. Parekh added that the joint expertise could unlock value across sectors, from risk management in financial services to AI-driven innovation in engineering and manufacturing.
Anthropic CEO and Co-Founder Dario Amodei said moving AI from demo environments to regulated industries requires strong domain knowledge. He noted that Infosys brings deep expertise in telecom, financial services and manufacturing, and that its developers are already using Claude Code to build AI agents for precision-focused industries.
