Key Background
The Presidency University Entrepreneurship Summit has been a flagship initiative since 2015 in supporting the entrepreneurial and innovation abilities of students. It is now a good platform for young entrepreneurs to showcase their ideas, gain industry exposure, and engage with mentors over the years. It continued in virtual platforms during the pandemic, providing continuity for entrepreneurship promotion.
The 2025 summit was the 10th anniversary summit. It was arranged by the Economics Department and Presidency University Young Entrepreneurs Society (PUYES). It was sponsored mainly by the Sadhuka Foundation for Entrepreneurship Development Endowment Fund. Established by alumnus Pasupati Sadhukha, the fund demonstrates the entrepreneurial initiative of the university alumni. Nescafe and Mr. Apurba Swarnakar sponsored the summit too.
A policy session by Dr. Mahuya Hom Choudhury of WBSCST on entrepreneurship policy overview was also an experience at the conference. True stories of entrepreneurs Gopal Pradhan (Dil Maya Home Stay), Alpesh Saharia (Purple Block), and Debajit Choudhury (NIS Management Ltd.) of entrepreneurs were live pictures of entrepreneur problems and success stories. RISE Foundation at IISER Kolkata also held an interactive session on sustainable entrepreneurship.
The most awaited activity was the Business Plan Competition, and 36 college teams like IISER and Heritage Institute participated for the activity. Following tough competition, 12 final contestants presented their business plans before a panel of distinguished judges from IISER and IIM Calcutta experts. Ms. Nivedita Chatterjee of Vigilantia Praesidium won the first prize, and runners-up included Debankush Mridha and Dey Pandey from Presidency University.
The decade of success of the Entrepreneurship Summit is a reflection of Presidency University’s commitment to entrepreneurial minds. With a strong learning platform, networking, and competition, Presidency University is committed to empowering future entrepreneurs.
