Background

South Korean machine tool maker DN Solutions is targeting the top position in India by 2035 as it expects strong growth in the country’s manufacturing sector. The company has invested ₹600 crore to build its first manufacturing plant in India, marking a major step in its expansion strategy.

The 25-acre facility in Bengaluru’s ITIR Industrial Area began operations in the last week of August. It is DN Solutions’ first overseas manufacturing investment since its Yantai, China, plant was established in 2003. The company currently ranks second in India’s imported machine tool market and has extended its earlier target of becoming the market leader from 2030 to 2035.

The Bengaluru facility can produce several thousand machines each year. It will initially make SVM vertical machining centres and LYNX and LEO horizontal turning centres. DN Solutions plans to add five-axis machines in future phases.

The company is also considering another investment of a similar size as demand grows. Another plant can be opened in the state of Karnataka because suppliers and engineers will be available there. The current facility uses about half of its available space, allowing production to expand before a new site is needed.

DN Solutions has localised around 80% of its components by parts count and aims to source most components in India within five years. As regards the year 2027, it has a supplier development programme that will assist Indian suppliers and MSMEs.

It has 240 employees in India and aims to increase this number to 500. It also foresees that India will become an export centre once its domestic operations are strengthened.
