As a Director of Petals Kids-Preschool & Daycare Center, he is committed to creating learning atmospheres that are not confined to the classroom but instill emotional and intellectual strength, too. His method is straightforward: to build an environment in which kids receive support, teams feel empowered to do the work they were hired to execute, and schools become a true foundation for the rest of life.

From Business Foundations to Educational Impact

Abhik’s journey began with a strong academic background, completing his BBA from Symbiosis, Pune, followed by an MBA from S.P. Jain, Mumbai. In 2014, he entered the business world through a packaged drinking water venture, gaining hands-on experience in operations and entrepreneurship.

A turning point came during the COVID-19 period, when he began exploring new directions. This led him to join his mother’s (Dr. Archana Khosla- Founder & Principal)  preschool and daycare business in 2023, an institution established in 2009 and recognized as one of the leading preschools in Western Pune.

Under his leadership, the organization expanded steadily to five fully owned and operated preschools and daycares, with a cumulative strength of around 700 children, marking a significant phase of growth and transformation.

Understanding Challenges, Adapting Constantly

Expansion brought new challenges with every location. Each branch operated in a different environment, with its own competition, pricing structures, and customer expectations.

As Abhik explains, “With every school and branch, the journey is not exactly the same.” This understanding pushed him to continuously upgrade his skills, take up new courses, and stay aligned with evolving business and education trends. Rather than applying one standard model, he chose adaptability, ensuring that each branch grows while maintaining overall consistency.

A Shift in Thinking: From Word-of-Mouth to Digital Growth

One of the most important changes Abhik introduced was adapting to modern marketing practices. Earlier, the business relied heavily on word-of-mouth, but changing times demanded a stronger digital presence.

He led the shift toward platforms like Google My Business, Facebook, and Instagram, helping the organization generate leads and stay competitive in a digital-first world.

At the same time, he focused on innovation within the schools. “Every year we come up with new concepts which keep the team, children, and parents enthusiastic about what is coming up,” he shares. This ensures that the learning environment remains fresh and engaging year after year.

Leadership Rooted in Trust and Ownership

Abhik believes that strong teams build strong organizations. His leadership style focuses on training employees to maintain consistent standards across all branches while giving them the freedom to think and act independently.

He encourages a strong sense of ownership among his team. As he puts it, “You are responsible for our success and failure both, so treat this like your own organisation and take decisions accordingly.” This balance of guidance and independence creates a culture where employees feel valued and motivated to contribute.

A Vision That Goes Beyond Academics

At the core of Petals Kids is a vision to build a strong foundation for children that supports both academic and emotional growth. Abhik highlights the importance of shaping not just learners, but individuals who can think independently and grow with confidence.

The mission recalls the approach to provide a positive and nurturing environment where children are encouraged to think, learn, and succeed, while being guided by values such as love, empathy, discipline, and respect.

Defining Success Through Continuous Learning

For Abhik, success is not about reaching a fixed milestone. It is about constantly improving and evolving. He believes that leaders must keep learning, adapting, and implementing better practices to stay ahead.

This mindset of continuous learning has played a key role in his ability to navigate challenges and drive growth.

Scaling with Purpose

With five successful branches already in place, Abhik’s immediate goal is to reach 1,000 students within the same network, focusing on strengthening quality and systems. In the long term, he plans to expand through a franchise model, aiming to build Petals Kids into a leading national chain of preschools and daycares.
